School teacher and advocate of abused children Hannah Cassidy invades a private retreat in the N. Nevada wilderness. Ignoring posted 'No Trespassing' signs and the property's angry owner, she dismisses his threats and demands that he reveal her missing brother's location.
Nicolas Benteen, ex-mercenary and former CIA covert operative, assumes she is yet another adversary intent on exacting lethal revenge for his past deeds.
He will fight to the death to protect the sanctuary he has created for himself and those from his past he has vowed to safeguard. Even as Hannah penetrates Nicolas' isolation and melts the ice that encases his weary heart, she is seduced by the sensual, battle scarred veteran and the dark secrets of his past. ~ Amazon
Where shall I begin...
If you have hormones but no brain, this is an awesome read. Different strokes for different folks...? There was near nothing else but stroking going on in between these pages. I felt irritated and very disappointed. I'm grateful for the description from Amazon; I suppose just "sex" would have been a way too short product description, plus it wouldn't entice anyone to buy the book, would it?
When I read the book description I honestly expected more; adventure, action, suspense. Instead the above thoughts were a few lost sentences in between cries of ecstasy, hard nipples and a throbbing sex. Oh, and occasionally you gather that the house have windows almost all around with the most breathtaking views of the mountains - one way glass - an awesome view and privacy to boot while they do nothing else with their time but have sex, want to have sex, think about having sex or think/talk about the sex that they've had.
Perhaps if you're married and you need to get in the mood, I would highly recommend this one - read it with your husband/wife - there's enough to go around. If you're single and sexually frustrated - stay away. Also a word of caution - it is the Hollywood kind of sex, not the stuff that real men are made of.
I found this book under the 'mystery / suspense' category when I was looking for new reading material but I think it rather belongs under the 'drippy sex novel' category.
Is Laura a good writer? Yes, I think so. She expressed the sex well; it is clear that she has no lack of ability to describe her imaginings. It is the content that was simply not my cup of tea, and as I sit here writing my review I keep thinking about a song by Stacie Orrico called There's GOTTA be more to life...
